Concentrates Explained: Shatter, Live Resin, Rosin, and Distillate

Concentrates are cannabis products in which the desirable compounds have been separated from the plant material and concentrated. They vary widely in texture, flavour, potency and production method. Knowing the main types prevents confusion at the counter.

Shatter and other hydrocarbon extracts

Typically made with butane or propane. The resulting product can be glass-like (shatter), more stable and opaque (pull-and-snap or budder), or softer. Flavour depends on starting material and purge quality. Potency is usually high.
